A downloadable mod

Not much to say here, it's Doom the way I like it: smooth animations, improved weapon swap speed and some slightly reworked weapons.

You can think of this as my interpretation of Skelegant's excellent One Hell of a Marine, but with some pretty extensive alterations and some extra bells and whistles afforded by DSDhacked.

Here's a list of weapon changes:

  • Fists: Faster, generally hit about twice as hard.
  • Chainsaw: 50% faster than vanilla. Good luck controlling it.
  • Pistol: Faster than vanilla, always deals flat 18 damage and has no spread. Much better as an early game weapon.
  • Shotgun, super shotgun: A teensy bit faster all in all.
  • Chaingun: Now a machine gun. 25% faster than vanilla, which makes it quite the bullethose.
  • Rocket launcher; About 1/3rd stronger than vanilla. The cyberdemon still uses regular rockets.
  • Plasma gun: Shoots in 3 round bursts for up to 3 times with no cooldown. If you keep firing, it'll start firing  faster and cool down once you let go.
  • BFG: Charges after each shot rather than before firing.

This mod also comes with its own suite of optional add-ons, these are:

  • A few optional palettes.
  • Reskinned props.
  • Higher fidelity world sounds (doors, crushers, lifts, etc) from Doom 3 and Quake 2.
  • An optional HUD for Nugget Doom.
  • Brightmaps for ports which support the BRGHTMPS lump.

This should cover it, but if you need more information head to the mod's Doomworldthread.

The mapset featured in the screenshots is Collision Course.

Install instructions

This mod should work  in any port with MBF21 DSDHacked support. Click here for a list.

GZDoom users, ensure your version is at least 4.11.3 or you may find issues!

This mod is primarily tested on Nugget Doom and has a custom HUD specifically made for it.

If you're using GZDoom, Woof or Nugget, you can use the version with PNG graphics for better compatibility with WADs that have their own palettes, such as Ancient Aliens, Back to Saturn X E1 or the various DBPs.

Good. Looks like that bogus warning message is not showing up at least in the newer entries on Itch.io. Anyway, I'll drop my first video with Doomed Marine here as well, if you allow me.
